Howard remarked that the hardest sermons to deliver are the first and the last.
On Sunday, February 22, 2008 we were privileged to hear Howard's last sermon, "A FINAL WORD", at Northwest Community Church. The focus of the sermon was the positive change, cooperation and progress, within our church, that he has experienced while working with his devoted staff, Session and our congregation. His message was to love one another as he has loved us.
As so many churches that he has served before us, we have all benefited by Howard's generous spirit and guiding hand. I'm sure that if these many friends were aware of his retirement, they would join with us in saying,
"Goodbye Dr. Smith... we love you".
