WHO'S MEL?

Sermon by David Matre
June 28, 2009

The historical account of Melchizedek foreshadowed the priestly work of Christ, who lives to intercede for us. The Messiah (Christ) was to come from the line of Judah, not the priestly line of Aaron, from the tribe of Levi, but God, in His providence, prepared another priestly order ahead of time so that Christ could serve as both King and Priest, offering a perfect sacrifice to satisfy God's justice and show God's grace.

LORD, DO YOU NOT CARE?

Rev. Rhonda O'Reilly
June 21, 2009

This sermon takes us on a journey with a peacefully sleeping Jesus, as fishermen take him across an unfamiliar sea into the path of a great storm. This was a storm not unlike those many emotionally challenging experiences in our own journey through life. Experiences that often leave us wondering why God seems not to care. We are then reminded that God works in unexpected ways, as when David overcame the giant with a simple slingshot, and Jesus overcomes this storm with the simple phrase... PEACE BE STILL.

And we find solace in the fact that life itself, each and every day of it, is a miracle.

LOOKING ON THE HEART

Sermon by Rev Rhonda O'Reilly
June 14, 2009

This sermon reflects the period of time in the Old Testament when there was a transition from Judges leading the people to the appointment by the prophet, Samuel, of the flambouyant first King of the Jews, "SAUL", and then the unlikely appointment of the humble shepherd who became the greatest reigning King of the Jews, "DAVID". We learn, from this sermon, the value of looking beyond appearance to discover the true qualities of the soul, mind and heart.
